BEIJING – Recently, a senior delegation from Shelton College International, Singapore’s premier institution for arts and media education, concluded a high-level academic visit to the Beijing Film Academy (BFA), the pinnacle of cinematic education in China. This visit underscores a shared commitment to transcending geographical boundaries and fostering a globalized academic ecosystem for the next generation of creative professionals.

Bridging Heritage and Innovation
The visit commenced with an immersive tour of the BFA campus. The delegation explored state-of-the-art soundstages, post-production centers, and the academy’s historical archives. This exchange of pedagogical environments allowed both institutions to find common ground in their mission: harmonizing deep-rooted artistic traditions with cutting-edge industry technology.

A Strategic Dialogue on Artistic Mastery
During the formal academic forum, leadership from both institutions engaged in a strategic dialogue focused on the internationalization of film education.

Professor Liu Qiuna, Dean of the School of Vocational Education and School of Continuing Education at BFA, articulated the academy’s mission of "Nurturing through Light and Shadow." She emphasized that BFA remains committed to bridging the depth of Chinese cinematic education with the diversity of global arts through strategic international alliances. Following this, Vice Dean Xiang Ziqiu provided a comprehensive overview of BFA’s International Exchange Base, establishing a robust institutional framework for future collaborative endeavors.

Representing the Singaporean perspective, Dr. Jessica, Principal of Shelton College International, offered a profound vision of the college’s mission. As a key catalyst for media and arts education in Singapore, Shelton is dedicated to a dual-pathway of academic specialization and global connectivity.
"At Shelton, we are rooted in the vibrant multicultural context of Southeast Asia, yet our vision is inherently global," stated Dr. Jessica. "Our mission is to construct a cross-border academic ecology. By collaborating with an esteemed institution like the Beijing Film Academy, we aim to co-create a new paradigm of arts education—one that retains Asian cultural DNA while wielding global influence."
Synergy in Curriculum and Pathways
The consultation moved into technical alignment, where Ms. Li Yajie, lead instructor of BFA’s International Base, conducted a meticulous review of Shelton’s undergraduate and postgraduate curricula. The evaluation highlighted a high degree of synergy between the two institutions, particularly in credit recognition and curriculum integration. This alignment ensures a seamless and high-quality progression for students pursuing advanced degrees across both institutions.

A Future-Oriented Partnership
The visit culminated in a ceremonial exchange of gifts between Dean Liu Qiuna and Dr. Jessica, symbolizing a pact of mutual trust and intellectual exchange.
Moving forward, Shelton College International and Beijing Film Academy intend to activate a multi-tiered cooperation framework. This includes international film art exchanges, articulated pathways for undergraduate and vocational studies, and specialized Master’s preparatory programs. Together, both institutions are poised to shape a comprehensive international talent pipeline, from foundational artistic exploration to high-level academic research, ensuring that the creative voices of the future resonate on the world stage.
