From creative drama to contemporary digital performance, you’ll experience a range of theatre practice on this performance focused and creative degree. Based in the purpose-built Performing Arts Centre, this course combines theory with practice in preparation for performance, incorporating sessions on:
• stage combat
• improvisation skills
• acting for camera.
The academic programme includes some specialist workshops in areas like stage and TV Drama. You’ll be performing at professional venues, as well as having some site-specific performance.
This course aims:
• To participate effectively in drama through the application of practical technical skills.
• To apply the methodologies of drama towards using the arts in professional educational and community performance and delivery.
• To appreciate the breadth of cultural and social influences on performing arts practice in historical and contemporary contexts
• To reflect and synthesise on the social significance and the interplay between performing arts and society.
• To apply innovative, interdisciplinary creative work in arts practice in a range of contexts.
• To undertake an extended research project relevant to the performing arts.
All modules are evaluated through written assessments. The award is conferred upon students who fulfill the graduation criteria by successfully completing and passing all required modules as stipulated in the course structure.
